Active Schools Week 2017 12th-16th June

Active schools week this year was a huge success!! We had a jam-packed schedule of events from our very successful marathon run and fun stations on Monday right to our hurling and treasure hunt orienteering on Friday. Our sports day took place down in the GAA pitch and each teeacher took their class around to the various different stations to try out all of the fun activities which had vbeen laid out for them. You can see a copy of the timetable attached. Other activities which took place throughout the week were soccer, yoga, rugby, dance and a walk with the parents! The children had an absolute ball as you can see from the  photos!!! We already cant wait for next year. Thanks very much also to all the parent volunteers who helped out with the marathon challenge and preparing the fruit on Monday. Your help is greatly appreciated!!! :-)

April 2017

Walk On Wednesday

The walk on Wednesdays initiative will begin this week. We are inviting parents and members of the community to come walking around the pitch with us every Wednesday morning and they may use the school grounds to continue walking when the children have gone into class. We are also encouraging the parents of children who are collected at 2pm and 3pm to walk for this hour around the school grounds.

Wake up Shake up Wednesday

We are all really enjoying Wake up shake up Wednesdays which take place in the school every Wednesday between 12 and 12.20. Each week a different class leads the children in a dance or just in various exercises. It's just another way to get us moving and keep us moving!! Well done everyone.

March 2017

Every class should have received their Super Troopers booklet. Every child must do Active homework each night. The booklet should be signed by a parent and checked each day. Children will have no written homework on Thursday nights so they can do Thursday and Friday's active homework instead.

Don't forget about FOOTBALL FREE FRIDAY!! Come to the back of the school if you'd like to listen to some music or do some calmer activities in our calm area!

Clocha Rince prides itself in the promotion of a wide variety of activities. These include the participation in team games such as Gaelic Football, camogie, hurling and soccer, as well as the developing individual activities like running, cross-country, swimming and walking.

The children are regularly exposed to various activities to help promote a healthy lifestyle and with the aid of the parent body and the local community the pupils have great examples of how to bring health and fitness from childhood through to adulthood.

This year we are striving to get our Active Schools' Flag and we are really looking at different ways that activity can assist lifelong learning, health and well-being can be promoted. As different aspects are introduced to the children, they will be highlighted on the web-site and on the school newsletter.

Our Active Schools' Committee are:

Fionn Kelly, Daniel Clarke (2nd Class); Connlach O'Donnell, Lucy Cullinan (3rd Class); Andrew Hill, Olivia Carney (4th Class); Caoilfhionn O'Donnell, Jamie Casey, Mealla McCarthy (5th Class); Dawn Hickey, Kayne Reilly, Katie Dunne, Jenny Redican and Niall Walsh (6th Class).

The teachers and SNA's who are co-ordinating the initiative are:

Ms. Áine Hurley, Vanessa Cullinan and Éanán Lynch.
